When spec’ing out a motorcycle, the owner's manuals provide a ton of good info, such as:

  • Length, width, height

  • Seat height

  • Weight (Careful here, as it’s often optimistic. Magazine measurements are better.)

  • Gear ratios, stock sprocket sizing

  • Stock tire sizing

  • Brake configuration (independent, linked, ABS, non-ABS, etc.)

  • Potentially equipped rider aids

Fortunately, most manufacturers provide manuals for free. Here are links to the big daddies, Suzuki is the only one that's not free at the moment:

If you’re in need of rear-wheel horsepower, braking capability, or wet weight, I recommend tracking down magazine test data or acquiring a forensically-oriented datasheet from Lightpoint or 4N6XPRT Systems.

Have a great weekend, all!
