We just finished up Lightpoint's Advanced Photogrammetry for Collision Reconstruction course in Arizona yesterday…many thanks to all those who took the time and energy to join in. Attendees indicated their primary use for photogrammetry was modeling crush from photos and determining speed from video, with mapping scene evidence coming in third.
Some resources for measuring crush from photos
Since the course sold out quickly and many on the list couldn’t attend, I wanted to share two resources for measuring crush from photos. Firstly, for those comfortable with CloudCompare, the in-depth video below shows the process using a mix of CloudCompare and PhotoModeler.
However, the PhotoModeler team has made big strides in their ability to handle point clouds recently, so the process can be notably simplified by completing the control-point selection directly in the program. This PDF is straight from the course and will walk you through that process, step by step.
Thanks again to those who came out to Arizona this week. If you’re interested in attending the next offering, you can sign up to be notified of it’s launch here.
Have a great weekend all!
