I recently had the privilege of spending a couple hours with Alan Moore discussing Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and autonomous vehicles (AV). These topics are crucial for us in the reconstruction field. Based on Alan’s calculations and research, by next year, half of all two-vehicle crashes will involve some ADAS componentry.
What do we need to know about ADAS?
The rapid growth of ADAS raises some important questions: What do we have to know about the technology? Do we all need to become ADAS experts? Alan provided an insightful answer to these questions.
Alan also discussed how ADAS and AVs will change our field in the coming years, how ADAS has initiated the biggest collaboration in the history of the auto industry, what’s required to achieve Level 4 autonomy, and how we can keep up with this ever-evolving tech. The full episode can be found here. I believe it's an essential listen for anyone in our field and I'm grateful to Alan for sharing his expertise.
Thanks for reading along, enjoy the summer weekend!

P.S. If you want to dive deeper into ADAS and AVs, Alan and Shawn Harrington have this course coming up in October through SAE.
