After last week’s installment, I got a few emails from the list about other excellent sources of heavy truck data. So, while we’re on the topic…

A great resource for heavy truck data

Version 1.0 of VINTrucks, headed up by Gary Johnson of VEAR, launched on the App Store 12 years ago and is very helpful when prepping for HVEDR interrogations. Enter VINs from medium and heavy trucks and you’ll get back something like this (image below):

The notes section often includes hard-to-find info like module locations, known sampling errors, or whether the EDR is active from the factory. The app is available on iOS and Droid for $4/month, which is a bargain. Kudos to Gary and the team at VEAR for creating and maintaining this valuable tool.

Tony Myers also informed me of Vehicle Information Profiles, which is a source I've never heard of, but looks promising. Tony indicated they've even provided him with a vehicle's window sticker in the past. Dang. I'll give them a try in the future for sure.

Thanks for reading along, have a great long weekend!

P.S. Speaking of heavy trucks, keep an eye out for my podcast with Tim Cheek and Matthew DiSogra of DELTA |v|, it should be out within a couple weeks and is chock-full of educational gems.
