Taught by PhotoModeler Ambassador Lou Peck, this course is designed for collision reconstructionists with some experience using PhotoModeler, although rookies can put a little extra effort in and make it through without issue as well.  Prior to attending, students should know how to complete a basic modeling project and understand the fundamental concepts of photogrammetry. Attendees will need to bring a laptop with a recent version of PhotoModeler installed. A trial version of the latest version can be downloaded prior to the class, and will be fully functional for 10 days. 

The course will be held in Westlake Village, California, on February 4th through 6th 2019, at the Marriott Residence. Food and coffee will be served each day, and breakfast is included for all attendees staying at the hotel. The hotel/class is in Westlake Village, the nearby airports being LAX and BUR. There are several nearby spots within walking distance for lunch and dinner. The Lightpoint group rate for the Marriott will be $199 per night, just let them know you're attending the Lightpoint class when you call to make the reservation. At the end of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Accurately and efficiently model vehicles where direct access to the vehicle is available

  • Model and measure crush from photos (appraisal, scene, cell-phone, etc.)

  • Calibrate a personal camera as well as exemplar cameras

  • Map roadway evidence using one or more scene photographs

  • Integrate scan data into your photogrammetry anlyses

  • Analyze surveillance video for vehicle speed

  • Use the best available tools for modeling and analysis

  • Quantify and describe the accuracy of a PhotoModeler project and identify the most pertinent peer reviewed papers

  • Testify to the results of a photogrammetry analysis effectively

The course will NOT cover 3-D surfacing or drone photograph processing.
